Using Less to Do More
BEHR® Paint is formulated for exceptional hide and coverage, enabling projects to be completed with fewer coats and less material. We carefully select materials that meet rigorous standards for safety, performance, and environmental responsibility. More than 100 of our BEHR® and KILZ® products are UL GREENGUARD GOLD® Certified for low chemical emissions*, supporting improved indoor air quality and contributing to healthier living environments.

Low Impact Packaging
We’re proud to offer one-gallon paint cans and lids made from 88%+ post-consumer recycled plastic. Our Simple Pour Lid designed for a cleaner, more precise pour, is not only easier to use, but also 100% recyclable*.

Efficient Manufacturing
Sustainability is built into every part of our operations. In 2021, Behr recycled more than 1,500 tons of plastic, saving approximately 8.5 million kWh of energy—enough to power approximately 850 homes for one year. These efforts also diverted over 83% of refuse from landfills and saved an estimated 45,000 cubic yards of landfill space, equivalent to about 13 Olympic-sized swimming pools*. Behr continues to lead in the coatings industry by raising performance standards while improving the environmental profile of its products—from low-VOC formulations to smarter packaging.

Sustainability at Behr goes beyond products and practices; it’s driven by people. Through programs like Behr Cares, team members roll up their sleeves in service of their communities, from garden plantings to coastal cleanups. Ongoing safety and sustainability training empowers employees to reduce waste and support recycling efforts across our global facilities. Through long-standing partnerships like Fresh Artists—a nonprofit that transforms obsolete paint chips into art kits for children in underfunded schools. Last year, Behr awarded $32,500 to Fresh Artists as part of our investment to eco-minded initiatives that give back and inspire the next generation.
